J. Randolph Luening VP, Wireless Economics.
J. Randolph Luening is currently responsible for wireless economics at Signal Research Group and has been active in the converged services / femtocell space.Mr. Luening spent 17 years at Vodafone Group, PLC a UK-based wireless operator, with businesses in 25 countries around the world.His roles included early stage investing, M&A, strategic financial modeling, strategic planning, marketing, and technology strategy.
Mr. Luening was instrumental in launching new business units and in spearheaded key technology decisions which shaped the US wireless industry in the 1990s and strongly influenced decision-making abroad.His expertise includes sizing new product markets and developing and presenting emerging-product-space business cases.His expertise also includes designing flexible strategic financial decision-making models.
Prior to Vodafone and its affiliated/preceding organizations (PacTel Cellular, PacTel Corporation, AirTouch Communications) Mr. Luening worked for US WEST in market research and Hughes Aircraft Company in commercial satellite design. Mr. Luening has a Bachelors of Science in Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from Duke University, a Masters of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business.
